Our mental health, as we are now aware, is just as important as our physical health. The thoughts running through our heads are more than simple to-do lists; they are actions, which become habits, which become character, which ultimately determines the road life takes us.

There are certain thoughts we can entertain in our pursuit of a positive attitude, among them being thoughts of encouragement, accomplishment, and thankfulness. Exercises such as journaling, are a great start on the path to positivity. Along with positive affirmations and gratitude lists, comes to us the idea of letter writing notes of encouragement to our former selves. Think of all the hardships you have overcome, the skills you have learned, and the qualities you have developed – all of these victories should be recognized and celebrated by you! You will find a sample letter (one which I have written to myself), below:
